Equal-area MODIS CRs derived from k-means clustering of 16 years (2003–2018) of MODIS Terra and Aqua Collection 6.1 observations of cloud top pressure and cloud optical thickness gridded in a 110-km equal-area grid. Only joint-histograms with at least 120 pixels are ingested into the k-means clustering using a subset based on latitude such that the global sampling is representative.
